, republicans voted on the budget control act. they hope this passÉ. it was a law. as senator murray announced today, this year the senate will return to regular order in the budget resolution to the senate floor. the house republicans had to add a gimmick or to today ago that i understand, we all understand the tea party plays a big part in what goes on in the house and they need a gimmick or two to get things done over there. but spare the metaclass another knockdown drag out fight, we are going to proceed to work on this legislation intended out of here as quickly as we can. i went to give credit where credit is due and i think speaker boehner for his leadership in defusing a site over the debt ceiling debate. as i said before, not everything has to be a big fight. this proposal they have in the house is that worth fighting about. so again, i think the speaker for his work in this regard. the metaclass has been telling us they don't want another crisis in this showcase send the security they deserve. senator durbin. >> thank you, mr. leader. america is suffering from confrontation fatigue.
to budget chair murray. we're going to do a budget this year. and it's going to have revenues in it. and our republican colleagues better get used to that fact. >> senator cruz? >> david, i'll mention there was an area of substantial agreement with what chuck just said. he said we should never, ever compromise the full faith and credit of the united states. i agree. and in fact, there is a bill that i am co-sponsoring, the full faith and credit act, which provides that, regardless of what happens to the debt ceiling, the united states will always, always, always meet its debt. we will never default on its debt. that was introduced in 2010. it didn't pass because harry reid and president obama didn't want it to pass. they wanted to raise the specter of a default to use. so, chuck, you and i could make news right now on national television, would you agree to support the full faith and credit act and take the possibility of a default off the table? >> i support the mcconnell proposal. let us raise the debt ceiling. no strings attached. and if the president can raise it as he should be able to
. i've talked to leader reid. budget claire murray. we're going to do a budget this year, and it's going to have revenues in it. and our republican colleagues better get used to that. >> so this is still a fight between how much spending cuts and how much taxes. the president got his -- >> well, simpson 3w0-bowles sai let's get rid of the high tax rates. the president doesn't want that. you had $1 trillion in tax increases with obama care. new tax increases at the beginning of this month. and now they are calling for even more tax increases, and they are not calling to cut spending. they are calling for spending increases. so basically what they're saying is, they want americans to pay more so washington can spend more. that's not going to help the economy, and that is not going to close the gap and balance the budget. the reason we want to balance the budget is not to make the numbers add up. we think that's necessary for growth and opportunity. we think it's necessary to make sure that our kids don't get this debt that they won't be able to handle if we keep going down the path
, part of the team that wrote that, mark murray and nia-malika henderson is back for round two. let's play the reaction of the 2016 talk and tying it in to the inauguration. let's play it. >> you guys in the press are inkor ini incorrigible. you are talking about elections from years from now. >> i'm out of politics and forbidden from hearing these questionings. >> i don't know if i enjoyed the more the president's comment or her laughter. mark, with that said for the people angry that we're talking about 2016, let's talk about the importance or significance of that interview and why the president and this is key here, he wanted and pursued this opportunity. >> it was to give thanks to hillary clinton. it is important to note that five years ago to this date, tamron, barack obama and hillary clinton were preparing for super tuesday. it was a contest that hillary clinton won some big states and barack obama emerged with more delegates. five years later, here they are on the same page and democratic party more unified than ever been and at least in decades and one of the reasons why i
the majority has decided to pass a budget. the new budget chairman, senator murray, said yesterday that her committee will draft a budget. now let's let the senate produce a budget. let's have a budget drawn up. let's have a budget debated. let's figure out what our plans are. budgets lay out plans and we'll see if a budget that a majority in the senate would vote for will pass the straight-face test with the american people. we'll see if this is just another budget that says, okay, here's the amount of money we'd like to spend. it has no relationship to the amount of money we have. let's let that be our budget. the people -- people will no longer tolerate, i'm convinced, the amount of debt and taxes that the spending plan would require. but for them to really think about that, they have to have a spending plan, and i am grateful that the house passed legislation that says we have to have that -- that plan. when the majority in the senate, democrats in the senate have a budget, we'll see how they feel about continuing to attack the budget that the house has been willing to come up with for
journalist john murray. welcome back. chris brown, first of all, on probation. so if this is all true, all these allegations, we're talking some trouble, are we not? >> yes. and he just got a stern warning, brooke, in november from his probation officer where the judge gave him a stern warning because he had a positive drug test. so, you know, chris keeps getting lucky. every six months there is an incident. last summer, the bar brawl with rapper drake. then the cell phone snatching incident with a fan in miami. before that, something else. it is just, like, you know, the blowup at "good morning america," he just can't seem to stay out of trouble. >> what's going on? why? he's talented. >> i'm call iing on iylana van zan zandt. let me give you the back story here. this relationship started two years ago, they started having some tension here. so some of chris' associates who said they were his cousins recorded a video of them trying to fight frank following him in a car and the video went viral. this relationship has been combustible for quite some time and it sounds like at the studio eve
sure we meet compelling human need and at the same time get value for our dollar. senator patty murray chairs the subcommittee that funds housing and transportation, again, to make sure that we're rebuilding homes and livelihoods. senator feinstein on the army corps of engineers, again, while they've been doing a heroic job getting the -- keeping the mississippi river open, they want to make sure the shoreline of new york and new jersey and maryland is open for business as well. i could name all of them but those three have done an outstanding job. and i particularly want to acknowledge the help of my colleagues from new york and new jersey. senator schumer has led the way, particularly when there was this difficult time with senator inouye's illness to move this bill. but senator gillibrand, menendez and lautenberg have really been outstanding. this is about colleagues, and i want to thank our colleagues on the other side of the aisle who helped us. i know that -- i really would now like to yield the floor to senator landrieu, who has done such a great job through her subcommittee and
